PRESS RELEASE
Jamaica Rugby has announced the expansion of its UK-based performance pathway with the launch of a new U19/20 programme. This program builds on the success of its U16 and U17 squads and now incorporates the existing u19s cohort.
The Jamaica UK Pathway, led by Nash Cohen (Head of Elite Youth Development), has quickly gained recognition for its professionalism, structure, and impact on player development. Cohen will now head up the new U19/20 squad, completing the pathway from youth rugby through to senior national representation and creating a clear route for Jamaican-heritage players to progress toward international honours.
“Our first season was about establishing culture and structure,” said Nash Cohen. “The addition of the U19/20 programme completes the framework and provides a clear route for players to represent Jamaica at the highest level.”
Operational leadership remains with Danielle Jordan Taft (Pathway Manager), while strategic direction continues under Hughton Campbell (Director of Rugby), a pioneer of the UK pathway system.
“This expansion is another milestone in building a truly global performance system for Jamaica Rugby,” said Hughton Campbell. “Our goal is to develop world-class talent through a unified pathway that connects players in the UK and Jamaica.”
The coaching team now includes:
Charlie Swerling – U18 Boys Head Coach
Tom Cooling – U18 Girls Head Coach
Will Baildon – U16 Boys Head Coach
Shaunagh Brown – U16 Girls Head Coach
With international fixtures scheduled for 2025 and preparations underway for the 2026 Rugby Americas North U20 Championship, Jamaica Rugby continues to strengthen its player base and performance systems for sustained success.
Best,
Hughton Campbell
