The Jamaican rugby community has been left in profound sadness and disbelief following the tragic and untimely passing of Brendan McMillan. Brendan was a force of nature both on and off the pitch. He was always at the centre of all things great with Jamaica Rugby and extremely popular with the players, staff, and supporters.
Brendan was well-loved within the team and always led by example. You knew when Brendan was around: his big smile, his infectious laugh and his extreme compassion and kindness towards his teammates. He was at the heart of all entertainment and team bonding off the pitch. He wore the shirt with immense pride and will be sorely missed.
Brendan played in the Jamaica 15’s team and was preparing to play in the 7’s team, but unfortunately sustained an injury while playing against The Bahamas last year. His last match for Jamaica was against Mexico in Mexico City earlier this year. He was one of the only front row players who could play both 7’s and 15’s at an International level.
His sudden loss leaves a void impossible to fill – in the scrum, in the changing room, in the hearts of all who played with him and to the whole Rugby family.
We mourn not only the player but the man – his potential, his spirit, and the future moments of sporting excellence now tragically unfulfilled.
To Brendan's family, his loved ones, his teammates at all levels, and the entire Jamaican Rugby Football Union, we offer our deepest, most heartfelt condolences. May you find strength in the love and support surrounding you during this unimaginably difficult time.
Brendan McMillan's legacy will endure. It lives on in the tackles made, the tries scored in his memory, the roar of the crowd for Jamaica, and the spirit he brought to the game he loved. He played with heart, he played for Jamaica, and he will always be remembered.
Rest in Peace, Brendan McMillan. Your fight on the field is over, but your spirit will remain a part of Jamaican rugby forever.

It’s never easy to lose a family member, and it’s especially difficult when that family member’s life was taken senselessly.
Our hearts and prayers are with his family as our rugby family mourns the tragic death of such an outstanding human being.
May his soul rest in peace, and those responsible, brought to justice.
